Roadside altercation leads to assault charges for 1

On Behalf of | May 22, 2022 | Criminal Defense

When the negligent actions of another driver place one’s safety at risk, it might not always be easy to just let go and move on. However, pulling over to confront another person could prove ill-advised and an ensuing altercation may run the risk of growing out of hand. Reports indicate that a man in Florida is facing aggravated assault charges following a recent roadside altercation that is said to have taken place under similar circumstances.

Incident reports

Reports indicate that the incident took place on a recent Wednesday when the driver of a motor vehicle cut off a motorcycle rider while attempting to change lanes. Authorities say that both parties pulled over to the side of the road and began to argue. During this altercation, the rider of the bike allegedly pulled out a knife and threated the other man.

Authorities claim that he proceeded to swing at the other man, prompting him to pull out a firearm for protection. Upon arriving at the scene and speaking to witnesses, authorities say they placed the rider under arrest. He is reportedly facing charges for assault with a deadly weapon and as a conviction for similar charges carries serious penalties, he is likely focused on exploring his available options and the next steps to take.

Assault charges

Facing assault charges can be a stressful and daunting experience and the average person might not always know how best to prepare for the subsequent process. Individuals in Florida who stand accused of similar offenses could consider speaking with an attorney as soon as possible for advice on their legal rights and options. An attorney can evaluate the charges and evidence against a client, provide insight in making informed decisions about the situation, and help create a strategy with which to seek the best outcome possible regarding his or her future during court proceedings.
